I took back-to-back scans and my measurements aren’t the same.Updated 8 months ago
There currently isn’t any device on the market that can calculate body measurements with 100% accuracy, and a lot of factors can create body fluctuations and therefore variance over short periods of time. That being said, you shouldn’t expect more than ±0.15 to 0.29 inches of variance with ShapeScale, depending on the body part. Here are some tips to minimize variance between scans:
- Use the same clothing (skin tight)
- Replicate the same posture between scans
- Freeze completely for the whole duration of the scan
- Get scanned in similar conditions each time (time of day, pre/post physical activity, pre/post meals, similar lighting, etc)
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that the variances you see between scans are more likely to reflect actual changes in your body composition rather than measurement inconsistencies. Please note that ShapeScale has been tested against other traditional methods, and shows some of the lowest variance rates. If you feel like the variance is too significant, feel free to report your scan and we will look into it.
