How many users can I have? What is a Monthly Active User? (ShapeScale for Business)Updated 3 months ago

A Monthly Active User (MAU) in ShapeScale’s system is any unique client who completes at least one scan within a calendar month at your business location. The key thing to understand is that it’s not about how many total scans happen - it’s about how many different people get scanned. For example, if you have a client named Sarah who gets scanned four times in July, she counts as just one MAU for that month. Even if another client, John, gets scanned ten times in July, together Sarah and John would still only count as two MAUs for that month.

To make it easier for businesses to grow their client base, we’ve included an important feature: first-time users don’t count toward your MAU total for their first seven days. This means you can freely use ShapeScale during initial consultations or trials without worrying about hitting your MAU limit. For instance, if you do ten first-time consultations in a week, scanning each potential client once, none of those scans would count against your monthly limit.

For context on the limits: The base business lease plan includes 100 MAUs at $199 per month when billed annually. If your business grows beyond that, we offer expanded tiers. For example, you can upgrade to 150 MAUs for an additional $100 per month, or 250 MAUs for an additional $200 per month. Some activities that don’t make someone count as an MAU:

  • Simply opening the ShapeScale app
  • Creating an account without getting scanned
  • Getting scanned at a different business location
  • Being a first-time user within their first week

What’s important to understand is that this model is designed to support healthy business growth while keeping the service accessible. Since we don’t limit the total number of scans per user, you can scan your active clients as frequently as needed to track their progress effectively.
